Dwell
Before there was a single star in the sky, before light ever pierced the darkness, God already was.
He did not come into existence. He has always existed.
The opening words of Dwell capture this breathtaking reality:
“Before the stars were set in place, Father, You remain.”
Everything we see is the work of His hands. Every galaxy, every mountain, every ocean, every sunrise is simply the overflow of His infinite wisdom, beauty, and goodness. Creation doesn’t make God glorious. Creation reveals the glory He has always possessed.
But what amazes me most isn’t simply that God is eternal.
It’s that the eternal God wants to be near us.
The song moves from God’s transcendence to His intimacy. The One who painted the heavens is also the One whose faithfulness never fails. It reminds me of Psalm 103:12:
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
Through Jesus, our sin has been removed forever. The barrier between a holy God and sinful people has been torn down. Because of Christ, we are welcomed into God’s presence, and even more astonishing, God chooses to make His home in us.
The song beautifully declares:
“Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Godhead Three in One.”
That isn’t simply poetic language. It’s the heart of the Christian faith.
The Father planned our redemption.
The Son accomplished our redemption through His death and resurrection.
The Holy Spirit applies that redemption by dwelling within every believer.
The chorus asks the Father, Savior, and Spirit to dwell with us. That word dwell carries the entire storyline of Scripture.
In Eden, God walked with Adam and Eve.
In the wilderness, His presence filled the tabernacle.
In Jerusalem, His glory rested in the temple.
Then Jesus came as Immanuel, “God with us.”
After His resurrection and ascension, the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost so God would no longer merely dwell among His people but within His people.
The cross made all of that possible.
Jesus bore our sin so we could become the dwelling place of the living God.
That’s why the song can confidently declare both, “Your fire purifies,” and “You are here.” God’s holiness and God’s nearness are not enemies. They meet perfectly in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
The bridge then lifts our eyes to the future:
“When I see You face to face… I’m in Your glory.”
What a beautiful picture.
The song follows the same storyline as the Bible itself.
Creation.
Redemption.
Indwelling.
Glorification.
One day our faith will become sight. We will see Jesus face to face, and the promise of Revelation will be fully realized. God will dwell with His people forever, and we will dwell with Him forever.
So how do we live this song today?
Begin every morning remembering that before your first breath, God already was. Before today’s challenges arrived, He was already there. Before tomorrow’s worries appear, He will already be there too.
Rest in His faithfulness instead of striving to earn His approval.
Like David prayed in Psalm 27:4, make God’s presence your greatest pursuit.
Not success.
Not comfort.
Not applause.
His presence.
Worship is never about trying to convince a distant God to come close.
Because of Jesus, He already has.
He dwells with His people.
And that changes everything.
Only One
We wrote “Only One” to help us see, experience, and worship a breathtaking truth: God is in a class all by Himself.
There is no one like Him.
Comparison does not even fit into the category of God. He is not simply greater than everything else. He is utterly unique.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have eternally existed in perfect love, joy, and satisfaction. Before there was a universe, before there was humanity, before there was you and me, God is love.
And here is what makes His grace so stunning.
Before creation, in the timeless heart and mind of God, He chose to lavish His love upon us in Christ. He chose us to be holy and blameless in His sight. He blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus.
The God who needs nothing chose to give us everything in Christ.
The incomparable God of all grace forgives us through Jesus and seals us by the Holy Spirit, securing us eternally as His beloved people.
How do we respond to a God like this?
We run to Jesus.
Not away from Him in shame.
Not toward lesser things looking for what only He can give.
Not toward our achievements hoping to prove our worth.
We run to Jesus with gratitude, wonder, and worship.
Today, remind your heart:
You are the Only One who is worthy.
You are the Only One who can save.
You are the Only One who can satisfy.
You are the Only One who deserves the glory, honor, and praise.
There is no one like our God.
The Only One.
Exalt
We wrote “Exalt” to be more than a song we sing. We wrote it to be a daily, moment-by-moment reminder that our God is faithful.
And nowhere do we see the faithfulness of God more clearly than in Jesus.
Jesus, the eternal Son of God, was faithful all the way to the cross. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He defeated sin and death, reconciled us to the Father, and brought us into the embrace of His love.
His faithfulness awakens our worship.
Because God has been faithful to us, we respond in three ways:
We exalt Him.
To exalt God is to lift Him above everything else. He alone is worthy. He is before all things, above all things, and means more to us than all things.
We praise Him.
To praise God is to joyfully celebrate who He is and what He has done. We remember His goodness. We tell the story of His grace. We refuse to let our circumstances speak louder than His faithfulness.
We adore Him.
Adoration is more than singing words about God. It is giving Him the deep love and affection of our hearts. We do not simply worship a powerful God. We adore the Father who has made us His beloved children through Jesus.
And here is why this matters: We are shaped by what we worship.
What captures our attention captures our affection. What captures our affection begins to shape our lives.
So today, whatever you are facing, turn your attention toward the faithfulness of God.
Exalt Him above your fear.
Praise Him in the middle of your uncertainty.
Adore Him because you are already His beloved.
He is our God.
He has been faithful.
He is faithful.
He will always be faithful.
So we exalt. We praise. We adore.
